Another Morning of Musing

I am drinking coffee and staring at the beatifully photographed Anthropologie catalogue. Why are beautiful things so expensive? And why does it seem better to own a few well made beautiful things (clothes, dishes, what have you) than to fill our lives with what may be nice, but is not the best? Is it snobbery? Maybe if we get carried away, but the principle doesn't seem inherently snobbish. I'm not sure...any ideas?

ahhh anthro. beauty itself. i have a new philosophy after moving out of my house where we bought everything on sale or the generic brands. it was a great day when something was Abertsons brand, we had a coupon, AND it was on sale. My oh my.

So-- now I use soap from Bath and Body Works, Aveda shampoo, and Tom's toothpaste, and my life has been enhanced. The amazing quality of these everyday items makes my life more enjoyable, my hands smell better, and my hair more voluminous.

The results from investing in a good product carry over to other parts of life, as well as FEELING better. Now, they might be tricking us consumers into the FEEL better part-- but hey, I'm okay with it.

Regarding clothes, I just bought a pair of jeans that should have been $200, but they were $50 at Nordstrom Rack. My ass has never looked so good, I have never been more comfortable, and I have never been so happy to put them on since they have patterned fabric lining the inside.

Its the little delights that make the extra money worth it.

My only problem is that now I'm broke. (literally-- can't go to Starbucks anymore because of my newfound love for good brands.) *sigh*

anddd longest comment ive ever posted on someones blog.
